Healing Beorning Roar Build

Introduction

Welcome, here you will find up-to-date and most current Yellow Line build for healing Beornings. This is one of my most favorite specs in the game, because Beorning healer is so versatile, it isn’t your typical run-of-the-mill healer, where they just stand in one place and spam healing skills without running into any resource issues. Beorning has a lot to do and a lot to offer to the group, which makes it challenging, but fun.

Beorning is a heavy armour healer, which allows it to be in melee range, to keep its debuffs going and to make up for their lesser radius on majority of their healing skills, not to mention their wrath generating skills, which are also mostly melee. A well played Beorning will always keep moving around with the melee DPS, and to the person which needs spot healing.

There is a lot of ‘Form’ switching in this spec, and this is something which takes time and experience to get used to.

Stat Goals

These goals are kept with Essence & Gear planning in mind, as to which Essences are to be prioritized over others. These goals can also be used when picking Virtues.

Critical Rating > Outgoing Healing > Vitality

After Critical Rating and Outgoing Healing are capped or near capped, save some room for Trigger essences, and then you can use some Vitality essences to fill in the remaining slots. At the beginning of expansion, Essence slots are really limited, this gets easier as better items become available later down the line.

* Before planning Essences, slot the right Virtues (more on that down below). This way you can plan your setup better, and utilize Essences perfectly, and you can dump the remaining Essence slots in Vitality, Finesse, or other Stat of your choice after meeting Stat goals mentioned above.

Gear

With new Raidd released, new gear for Healing Beornings is published in the tables down below. Yellow Beornings will use 4-piece of the new Yellow set and 3-piece of the new Red set for some better DPS output. There are 2 published Builds, one for Endgame and one for Starters.

Trait Trees

This is the Tree I use for Healing. I take everything important from Yellow Line and important utility from Blue and Red.

Yellow Tree for healing.

This is my most perfect setup. To start with, I have the stacking 5% outgoing healing buff from Slash, max Bees Debuff potency, max Armour Crush, and maxed out Sacrifice.

Virtues

These are the virtues I use to reach the Stat Goals. I use mostly Mastery/Outgoing Healing, Critical Rating and Finesse options, but if need be, some of them can be switched to more Defensive options as well, depending on the type of fight. More explained down below.

Virtues for Healing

Here are the Virtues which go along with the Stat Goals:

  1. Zeal (Great for Outgoing Healing through Might stat and Critical Rating)
  2. Honesty (Great for Outgoing Healing and Critical Rating)
  3. Confidence (Great for Critical Rating and Finesse)
  4. Wit (Great for Finesse, Mastery and Critical Rating)
  5. Loyalty (Great for Vitality and survival)

If you don’t have these virtues, here are some alternatives:

  • Fidelity (Great for Vitality + Tactical Mit)
  • Tolerance (Gives great amount of Tactical Mit, decent Physical Mit and Resistance)
  • Valour (Great for Mastery, Finesse and Critical Rating)

Legendary Items

Here is the setup for Healing Beornings. They have a choice when it comes to using either a Dual Wield setup or a 2-Hander Weapon. Generally, Dual Wield is good if you are low on Stats and could use some extra. However, a 2-Hander Weapon is better if you are good on Stats and want to provide extra DPS while healing. In both cases, an Axe should be picked as it provides an Armour reduction debuff.

Rotation

Here is what I do on Healing Beorning:

  1. To begin with, always start the fight with max Wrath. You can use Biting Edge, Hearten and Ferocious Roar to fill up your Wrath pre-fight.
  2. Put the Mark of Grimbeorn on your top DPS player in group to give them a buff of +15% damage for 12s, whenever you use Vicious Claws. However, you will lose out on some healing on tank if you do this, so if your Tank needs more heals, switch the mark on the Tank.
  3. Always start the fight with your debuffs right away, Bees first (don’t forget to swap to unimbued weapon if you have, for the debuff duration). Also put the Mark of Beorn on the target you want to use Bees on.
  4. Ideally you want to use your Armour Crush debuff when Oathbreakers are on target, so you can coordinate that with your Captain, but if your group is not using Oathbreakers at start, use your Armour Crush right away after you use your Bees.
  5. Now that both of your debuffs are on the target, go in Man Form and use Slash. Ideally you want to use this skill 3 times every 20 seconds, so whenever you go in Man Form, use Slash. It gives a nice outgoing healing buff. It helps if you can track this buff via a plugin.
  6. After these 3 things are done, you want to start using HoT (Hearten) on your tank, or whoever that is taking heavy damage.
  7. Rotate around Slash – Hearten – Nature’s Mend – Slash
  8. After you have finished your Man Form rotation, your debuffs will be coming off, go in Bear Form and Refresh them.
  9. Stay in Bear Form and look around who needs heals. At this stage you can also start building Encouraging Roar stacks on your tank, just to be safe, it’s a very strong HoT.
  10. If group needs an AoE heal, use Rejuvenating Bellow, your 2nd biggest AoE heal.
  11. You also have Relentless Maul, your biggest AoE heal, use this only if your entire group needs some form of a heal.
  12. After your group’s morale is stable, switch back to Man Form and start the rotation again, Slash – Hearten – Nature’s Mend – Slash
  13. You also have some other emergency skills, such as Nature’s Bond, which transfers almost all the healing you receive, to the person you use the skill on, it’s very effective, use it on the person (usually the Tank) to bring them back up fully.
  14. Another important utility is the skill called Sacrifice. If you have used up all your heals and cooldowns and have nothing left, use Sacrifice on the target. But be careful with this, if you receive too much damage on yourself after using that, turn it off fast).
  15. There’s also another important skill to keep track of, called Piercing Roar, it reduces target’s damage by 20% for 12s. Ideally, this skill should be used before a big incoming hit. If you know the mechanics well, you can use this skill well and take advantage of it. However, if you don’t know the mechanics, keep this skill on cooldown.
  16. To summarize, you need to keep Armour Crush and Bees (with Mark of Beorn) full time 100% on the DPS target. After that, it’s all about using Man and Bear Form heals and HoTs, when they are on cooldown, switch to other form and use heals from there. Keep Slash buff up, it’s very potent, and Hearten HoTs and Encouraging Roar HoTs on your Tank as best as you can. Use Biting Edge/Slam/Ferocious Roar/Nature’s Mend also in rotation, so your Wrath doesn’t disappear.

Consumables

There are the consumables I use on Beorning:

These are great to generate Wrath when you need it urgently.
