The next expansion for Lord of the Rings Online will be released in the Fall of 2026. And it will be named Wolves of Mordor. This post give you a small summary of the information available so far and links to other websites or videos with more information or specifics.
Expansion details
The wolves in Mordor come from the transforming humanoids that Sauron was known to be the master of. These are not servants of Sauron anymore. It’s unclear if they are going to be only enemies in the expansion. For more details view top part of MMORPG interview or Bludborns quick overview from the reveal party at Gencon

The regions we’re going to visit are Nan Ogol, Parth Rhavas and Heledhris. Heledhris is where players will begin their journey, kicking the epic story off following the people who inhabit (and have come to) these regions. The werewolves and Easterlings. But also scouts from Gondor, the Elves, and even some of the Dunedain in the new areas.

Systems
Besides questing, this expansion comes with two new sytems. Neighborhoods will come become available (if pre-ordered) before the expansions releasedate. And Survival Instinct will be expansion region specific on release.
Neighbors
These will be best described as mix of a housing NPC and a Tamagotchi in a way. Or a reverse Wow Garrison. You visit the NPC and do actions within the gameworld and then they will “evolve” along with you. They will be available in 4 main race variant, no beorning or premium race variants on release. For a full overview you can visit Main Lotro article or Aubrey’s youtube video as she goes over the same article
When a neighbour first arrives at your home, they are little more than a stranger. Building a true friendship takes time and begins with sharing your adventures.
Each day, a mission board within a neighbourhood offers a selection of five special Neighbour Missions. These missions function similarly to the mission system you already know, but with a crucial difference: you complete them by sharing them as a story with your neighbour. Any neighbour can listen to the story of your latest mission, but not every neighbour will appreciate every story equally.
The kind of adventure you undertake matters. The objectives you pursue, the creatures you confront, and the activities you engage in all contribute to how your neighbour responds.
Getting to know a neighbour is a gradual process, and every action you take contributes to that journey.
Survival instinct
Available only in the 3 regions, instances and raid that are part of the expansion, though planned to be made available in other forms such as “swimspeed buff” in Evendim or the “wall of death” from Volume 1 Book 6 in Angmar. As you adventure through Draugardh, you will unlock new triggered abilities, active skills, tactical responses, and character enhancements that complement your class strengths and open new strategic possibilities. Survival Instincts are earned by building relationships with the region’s inhabitants and are managed through a dedicated new page in the Trait Panel.
Every type of Survival Instinct has meaningful utility for all classes and roles. They offer greater variety in game play, an edge in difficult encounters and quests, and a larger advantage in group-based content throughout the Wolves of Mordor expansion. Whether you are seeking additional damage, survivability, support capabilities, or new strategic options for you and your fellowship, Survival Instincts will provide new ways to customize your character and adapt to the dangers of Draugardh.
The major thing is that these unlocks are serverwide (in specified areas). How these are unlocked is unknown, but i’m thinking a mix of epic, quests, reputation or perhaps a barter.

3 possible, 1 active Lesson – allies/more/less enemies similar to Wraiths on legendary server
3 possible, 1 active Skill set – Extra skills/modifiers within Xpac areas
16 possible, 4 active skill set modifier – Cooldown, strength, effects to Skill set
